I need someone to transfer files & programs between PCs

I am a MCSE but I don't have time to swap out two PCs. I've rebuilt a 5-year old Dell box with Windows Visa, AntiVirus and all patches are applied. I need someone who can work with my church secretary durning the day to transfer the files and applications from HER computer onto this new computer.

reinstall windows

Have a laptop with Windows Vista, and no recovery partition and no factory restore media. Laptop does have sticker with Key. I would like to restore to a clean install of of windows. Backup has already been taken care of.

PC Overheating and locking up

My personal computer seems to run a bit slow, memory/processor wise. After thirty to forty minutes, it will enter a slow lock up, and then has to be hard rebooted.

Blue Screen of Death - Need Computer Restored to Normal

I went to BestB with my Dell Laptop 1440 and I was told my software was corrupted because of a virus and the operating systems needs to be reinstalled to new. They said they could also save my files. They quoted me an exorbitant amount for retreiving my files ($150) and then reinstalling software (presumably with start up disks) - ($200) for a total of $350. I am looking for a computer specialist that can do this cost effectively. I live in the Greenwich Street area, near NYU.

Recover data from hard drive

The hard drive is in a Dell Dimension 3000. It turns out that it was kicked. It was take to the Geek Squad who stated that it wasn't reading. The above is the information that I was able to find out from my mother, and below is my guess about what could be done. However the ultimate goal is to get the files, so if you have a better way to get from point a to b that's great. I suspect that a pin may be broken on the motherboard or the hard drive from the kicking. The first step would be to extract the hard drive and inspect it. From there if it was just the motherboard, then it would be helpful to have an IDE to USB adapter to copy files onto a newly purchased computer. If the pin is broken on the hard drive, there would need to be a discussion about what was possible, such as soldering etc. You would be working with people who are not too technical.

I have a new Windows computer (bought in the last 2 years) and a new printer. But I don't know how to connect the printer so that I can print. My daughter bought me the printer, and told me it's compatible with my computer.

VFX Editing Machine is bizarrely slow

I'm trying to figure out why my main production editing machine is crawling and I'm getting sick and tired of just re-imaging my windows box superstitiously to fix problems. The box is Quad-Core i7, 16GB Ram, SSD, & 1 GB Quadro card. It's performing worse than a coworker's Macbook Pro. I'd like someone who's very technical on Operating Systems and performance analysis to debug the machine. I don't want to spend time learning how to use xperf/WPT/windbg or reading the Windows Interal books, so you should know how to use these tools I'm trying to figure out where the perf on this beast is going (page faults, disk access, constant TLB flushing, other bad services, CPU bound, cache misses, etc). PC won't boot

We have an HP desktop running Vista. It now won't boot- I think the hard drive might have gone, but I'm not entirely sure. We've already replaced it with a Mac, but it is a relatively new machine so we'd like to get it running and get the hard drive cleaned so we can donate it to someone who needs a computer.
